The Salisbury Chamber Chorus presents a concert of seasonal music from around the world.
Another Christmas concert? Well, not quite. Firstly, this is the Salisbury Chamber Chorus, the ’small choir with a big sound’, well-known for taking on Wagner and Verdi (and winning). So this grand tour of Advent and Christmas music may well contain quite a few traditional favourites from Germany, France, Poland, Russia and beyond, but there’ll also be moments from Berlioz’s epic L’Enfance du Christ, Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, Rossini’s Cenerentola (Cinderella) and some new arrangements of celebrated Christmas orchestral classics (Prokofiev’s Troika and Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker) for chorus by musical director Simon McEnery.
Get your festivities off to an unusual start at what promises to be an immensely enjoyable concert.
