Putting the Band Back Together
Why do we stop playing? What might make us start again?
All those guitars propped up in bedrooms. Voices only heard in the shower. Drum kits taking too much space in garages.
It’s time to blow off the dust. We’re putting the band back together!
Part riotous gig, part tender storytelling, Ross Millard (The Futureheads), Maria Crocker (The Letter Room) and Alex Elliott (Northern Stage) reveal epic emotions within people’s relationships with music.
Featuring a house band of ex-players. Fancy joining?
Join the House Band!
Every performance of Putting the Band Back Together will include a unique House Band made up from audience members. If you would like to join the band when you see the show here are a the details:
Do I have to audition or be of a certain standard?
No. Anyone can get involved and we welcome players and singers of any level.
What if I can’t read music?
No problem. You’ll basically be learning by ear. However, song sheets with chords and melody lines will be provided.
Will I be on stage for the whole performance?
No. You’ll start off in your seat in the audience and then join the performers on stage towards the end.
Will I need a ticket for the show?
Yes. Please book a ticket for the show in the usual way via Ticket Sales (01722 320 333).
If you are part of the House Band you can pay the discounted rate of £9.
How do I sign up for the House Band?
When you book your show ticket also book a FREE place at the appropriate workshop rehearsal earlier that day (5.30pm for 7.45pm evening performances; 12.30pm for 2.45pm matinee). There will be space for up to 15 people in each band.
What will it be like?
We promise good music (hopefully!), a few wrong notes (probably!) and a laugh along the way (definitely). Previous House Band players described the experience as “really good fun”, “very welcoming” and “it was fantastic. I loved every second”
What if I have further questions or don’t have my own instrument?
