In 1960s Dublin bus conductor Alfie Byrne is the leading light of St Imelda’s Amateur Theatre Company. Tired of staging their usual production of The Importance of Being Earnest, Alfie plans to tackle Oscar Wilde’s more challenging Salome. Struggling to create a work of art, little does he realise the controversy his production will ignite.

In the course of tumultuous rehearsals with a collection of colourful characters, Alfie learns that the theatre is not a place to hide from the world, but instead the very place where we may finally discover our true selves.

The cast of actor musicians includes Mark Meadows as Alfie(Betty Blue Eyes and Mary Poppins, West End and The Spire, Salisbury Playhouse), Fra Fee as Robbie (Courfeyrac in the film of Les Miserables) and Laura Pitt-Pulford (Piaf, Curve Leicester; Guys and Dolls, Salisbury Playhouse/New Wolsey Ipswich/Theatr Clwyd) as Adele.

The cast also includes Christopher Talman (Barnum and Charlie Girl, West End) and Susannah van den Berg (Spend, Spend, Spend Newbury Watermill).

Completing the cast are Angela Bain, Esther Biddle, Richard Emerson, Samuel Martin, Robert Maskell, Mia Soteriou and Roy Weskin.
