In an English country house, celebrations on the eve of the Labour Party's 1945 landslide election victory are in full swing.
While her father, a socialist peer, celebrates in London, Miss Julie descends into the kitchen to seek out John, the chauffeur - and finds him with his fiancée, the cook. A passionate midsummer's night exposes simmering suspicions and resentments in this sexually charged story of desire across the class divide.
Originally premiered at the Donmar Warehouse in 2003, Patrick Marber's re-imagining of Strinberg's classic Miss Julie thrillingly highlights the original's tragic impact and resonance.
"Marber has given Miss Julie an arresting and very English makeover" The Independent
