Vote for Salisbury Playhouse

Vote For Salisbury Playhouse
09 August 2016

Voting is now open to find the UK's Most Welcoming Theatre 2016 in association with Smooth Radio and Salisbury Playhouse is in the running.

The winners of this year’s award will be decided by the public and voting is now open until midday on Monday 19 September 2016. Votes can be cast at uktheatre.org/vote.

Theatres across the country are taking part before the 12 regional and national winners are announced on 29 September 2016. The overall winner of the award will be announced at the UK Theatre Awards on Sunday 9 October.

This is an opportunity for audiences to celebrate Salisbury Playhouse’s continuing success with the local community.  The UK Theatre Awards are the only nationwide awards to honour outstanding achievement in theatre throughout the United Kingdom. This year's ceremony will again take place at London's historic Guildhall.

Julian Bird, Chief Executive, UK Theatre, said “Theatres throughout the UK play a crucial role in the heart of our communities and continue to thrive despite a challenging financial climate. This award gives audiences the chance to show how much their venue means to them.”

Tim Croall, Head of Communications at Salisbury Playhouse, said “Our staff and volunteers work hard to look after over 100,000 people who come through our doors each year. Winning the Most Welcoming Theatre Award would be a fitting way to acknowledge their commitment and to show the country how proud Salisbury is of its theatre.”

The UK Theatre Awards are supported by Smooth Radio, UK Theatre Insurance, White Light, Theatre Tokens, John Good and Harbottle & Lewis.

Votes can be cast at uktheatre.org/vote until midday on Monday 19 September 2016.
